SF as one

So the 'As One, Cory Mr Safety Williams Gathering' was on Saturday, and a few videos so far have been posted of it. I had planned to go, but changed my mind about a month ago for various reasons. I kind of wish I'd gone, but I know it was a frivolous folly and I can't really afford it etc etc.
But Brad posted this tiny video of the streets of San Francisco, and it made my heart yearn to be back in America. It doesn't even look that special, but it feels like where I must be.

Just come on over, Paperlilies. You don't have to worry about the INS running you down. We'll put you in a different diguise every day. And, you'll never sleep more than one night in the same place. We'll just keep moving you from one safe house to another under the cover of night.

I'd wish they'd plan another one in NYC! I don't know if I can go to toronto since I plan on moving from Buffalo in July.

If no one plans one, I will...or I will at least try.

every things in america is about money. you pay a lawyer to get your visa around 3k-5k. they know a way to get your visa if you have money to pay.

you save some money. and come here as a tourist. for 3-6 months to find a job. stay w/yr friends... if your visa expired and still no job. then transfer yr visa to j visa or some other visa for a training program.

but yes get a job first--to be safe. my friend has no design sense at all, she still got a crappy job as a designer for 30k/y... i think you can get it if you really want it...

Bryony, until I read it in your blog I did not know anything about there being a SF gathering. I would like to have gone. :(

Paperlilies...it's time to take that leap of faith...time to leave the security of your parents nest.

She can visit America anytime she pleases. It's whether she can or wants to.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the pond. :-)

Paperlilies,

Are you alive? Maybe San Francisco isn't your best bet after the London earthquake. I had visions of you covered in Monopoly money and Scrabble letters after your board games fell on your head.

An Open Letter to the People of Great Britain:

I don't know if you're paying attention but Paperlilies is openly yearning for California, and this isn't the first time. Aren't you at all concerned? It would take just a little effort on your part to keep her happy and English. Give her a cool graphic design job with interesting colleagues and she would forget all about the US of A.

If you are out of cool jobs, you could just knight her. Tell the Queen "no flower shows today, Mum" and have her wave the sword around. "Rise Lady Bryony of Tea Biscuit Bumbershoot" -- what would it take, 15 minutes? And then the Queen could go back to brushing the corgis and Paperlilies could take the tube home with a new sense of commitment to the land of her birth.

Considering all the fuss you Brits made over hanging onto the Falkland Islands, which are cold and very damp, we can't figure out why you are letting Paperlilies slip through your fingers. If you are no longer interested in retaining your national treasures, could we also have Big Ben and Excalibur (but only if you're not using it)? You can have Posh Spice and David Beckham back. We don't know what we were thinking when we bought them from you.

Sincerely yours,

America

Maybe she should relocate to Frisco after all. I'll sponsor her to the US.

If she went to the YT AS1 gathering this time she could have met her 5-facts laundry man Steven Chen. :)
