Youtube Message

I have decided to post stupid messages I receive in my youtube inbox as and when they amuse me or astound me with their divvy-ness. When I can even get into my youtube messages that is.

So without further ado, A message from my youtube inbox:

your sarcasm video
I'm really very sorry to do this but this is in relation to your video about banning sarcasm from youtube. I have a couple problems with this video, you make sarcasm sound like a bad thing, like it is somehow this great negative thing. People like you who decide to get on camera's and start blabbing about whatever nonsense comes to mind bothers me, and while the internet is a free place for ideas, it's just bothersome, especially when it is based on a single perspective and is fundamentally wrong in so many ways.

For one, sarcasm does make sense, its as easy to understand as any other literary device. The only fault with sarcasm is that it is the most complex literary device that has yet to exist. Research has shown that it requires a long sequence of complicated cognitive skills to understand. So, essentially, its not that sarcasm is too confusing, its that not all those who hear it are intelligent enough to understand it, generally that they are not mentally developed enough to understand it. Personally I blame it on society and society's complete loss of upbringing in children, on the media, and essentially the general devolution that man is undergoing on the general scale.

Another thing is, why make a video and put it on youtube just to complain about it? There are better channels to follow should you authentically want to make some kind of change or difference. This is provided you didn't do it just for attention.

If you have any trouble believing me...

these are only two links to credible sources, but you can find many more by typing "anatomy of sarcasm" into pretty much any search engine. Sorry for railing on you but this kind of thing bothers me, especially when you try to make the people who are creating sarcasm look like idiots. I greatly appreciate and use sarcastic humor a lot. It is incredibly funnier and even funnier still to me when people don't understand it. That is after all half the point of sarcasm, that it will fly right over some peoples heads. So please for the love of god try not to make any more hasty or presumptuous videos about any controversial topic without at least giving it the smallest widget of thought or research. On top of that, if you are going to indeed go to the lengths of making a video about it, please god have your thoughts organized beforehand for your own sake. It makes you look like a dumb bimbo who uses "like" every couple words. I don't believe that to be the case, but that is how it appears. I also watched the response video to the hate mail your video generated, it really is unfortunate and only further shows my point about the general stupidity among people. I find none of those comments to have any merit. You are in no way ugly, in fact quite the opposite, you are rather beautiful.

So again, sorry for this, I sent it in the form of a message because I do not believe in making my refutation of your material a public matter. It would have been immature and only caused dozens more of foolish people from both sides of the issue to start flaming at each other in all caps lock lettering.

All of this talk of guns lately, and now reading these pearls of wisdom from Stephen, makes me want to find a 9mm to place in my mouth.

It looks like you've found a potential husband. Aim high, P.

Could it be that this message was sarcasm? Either way it's damn funny.

first i was laughing like crazy .. but now i am just confused. he kinda impressed me with his "devolution" comment and the links. thats something only few people would say/do.
nevertheless .. i flew over the apa article .. and didnt find any reference to intelligence whatsoever (just as i though .. ridiculous). so this dude is probably intelligent, arrogant because he knows it and didnt understand the article because he isnt educated in this field of science. great combination - this is exactly why scientific studies are not supposed to be read by the general public.

I was wondering that too, Simon.
These will be fun.

You have the gift of a relaxed natural air of authority that can unintentionally make jokes and casual remarks sound like Gospel truth.Such a pain when you're almost an Athiest!

It's GOT to be some sort of over-the-top sarcasm. Compared to a lot of messages you must get this guys writing style is the equivalent of Sartre.

Wow. Sounds like a fun guy. I wonder if Stephen knows how passive-aggressive his message is.. This kind of hater is one of the best. His words are seemingly coherent -- he can string a well composed sentence together. Unfortunately his perception is off. So even though his thoughts are "organized", they're still warped.

Wow. Maybe you should ask this guy to write a rambling unnecessarily wordy explanation of the word "irony".

That guy was being sarcastic...but the strange thing is he apparently put a lot of work into fooling only Bryony. Why send it in a private message? He was probably hoping she would respond back, and he could make fun of her later for her lack of perceptiveness.

I hope English isn't his first language...

each paragraph was one long run-on sentence.
